Morris Family Reunion

This past weekend (Fri-Sun) was our annual Morris Family Reunion--Big Family, Big Fun!!
It was the coldest, rainiest reunion we've ever had, but that didn't stop us from having a great time & great reunion 2009...we've been having the Morris Reunion since 1990 & it's always the hilight of my summer--I have a huge family on my dad's side (11 aunts & uncles, 55, grandkids; add in spouses & great-grandkids and there are well over 100 of us!)--and the best part, we're a very close, big family. :)
It was up in the Tushar Mountains (by Beaver, UT)...a beautiful spot!
(a rare sunny moment)

This fire-pit by the pavilion was a main gathering place, where we kept warming up by a big fire!
No mystery why these mountains are near Beaver, Utah in Beaver County.

My Dad & his siblings (4 are missing).

Newest addition to the fam :) ...Brian's baby boy, Tyler (and such a cutie!!)

Here's Austin trying to whittle wood with a whittled knife :)
(Tommy made him the knife)

Austin, so stoked that Nase let him drive around the mountain roads :)

Fishing was a popular activity this year--every time the rain let up, people were grabbin their poles & heading to the lake.
(Maybe it was so popular because the fish were biting!)

A cousins football game

Here's Leka, very somber, in the early morning--even with a big plate of pancakes.
Austin (my morning person) - was chowing down!
She cheered up when she realized she could roast marshmallow's for breakfast! :D
(Nase had the camera set on black & white)

Too much fun...fading fast!
Austin takes a cozy nap in the car out of the rain & cold.
(Why not in the tent?...this was the first year we actually whimped out & got a hotel in town--Nase had been sick, and it probably was best he didn't sleep up in the cold mountain...I do love camping--although, I will admit, hot showers were nice :D )
The canoes were fun...here's Nase & Austin paddling

Me 'n Leka rowing the canoe
(Like I said, it was cold & rainy, and as you can see, my legs remained butt-white! :p)
My brother w/the cousins his age
Brian after falling out of the canoe :D
Another thing that was tons of fun was the rope swing...see my cousin up in the tree, setting it up?
Thanks, Chad for bring the swing & making it happen!
Leka swinging

Annie flying high
Leka & cousin, Abby going double...
..here they go!
Austin takes a turn w/Annie
(wish he'd had a pooped diaper at the time, haha...j/k)

Always fun & entertaining is the traditonal talent show.
Here's a bunch of cousins watching a performance (most of it we pull together spur of the moment :)
Leka sang a song w/her sweet little voice--she chose I am a Child of God.

My new cousin, Jade (her dad married my aunt) does an Irish dance...she was Really good!

Hoola-hoop contest...the champion Madison--going one legged!
Destiny shows us her stuff.
Tommy & our cousin, Mike played & sang a Social Distortion song--they sounded really good!
Love this cousin pic! (In front of my parents' little camper.)

The Patriarch of our family (and my personal hero :) ..My Grandpa. 92 years young, sharp as a whip...WWII Vetran, shining example, and world's best dad, grandpa, & "grandpa-great!"

Austin w/my cousin, Cameron--I love this pic!

Playing cards (a good activity for the rain.)

Leka had So much fun w/her cousin's Abby & Brooklyn/!
Ooops!--Austin did a face plant in the mud! :-o
A somber face as Grandpa whiped him up, but no tears.

The damp wood up there didn't burn too great, but thankfully my cousin, Curt, who's in home construction, brought up a ton of dry wood--2x4's & such--my kids took some of it & built a fort. :)

...And the fun's not over yet, because in a few days we'll be getting together in Balnding for a Morris Reunion with my immediate family (I'm actaully in Blanding now--came home w/my fam after reunoin since Nase just had to work out of town all week)--he'll come down when he gets back & my brother & his family will be coming out from Kansas. We're planning on doing cook-outs, fishing, and going to Lake Powell...can't wait! :D

It looks like you guys had a great family reunion. I love all of your pictures!! You're so good to take a camera with you, I always seem to forget. We miss you guys SO much!! We love where we are but no one's ever outside to talk too!!! We will have to get together for sure. And we need to go to Cherry Hill sometime too. Hope you guys are having a great time in Blanding. Oh, and by the way, you have two new neighbors that moved in while you were gone and both of them have kids!!!!!
