Volcano!!

Last week 6 miles off the coast of Tongatapu (the main big island of Tonga) there were a series of volcanic eruptions--they shot steam & ash out of the ocean in a spectacular sight!!...Earthquakes were felt before the eruption occured, but there were no injuries or damage.

Nase's family (who lives on Tongatapu) felt the quakes, but I dont' think they were able to see the volcanic eruptions up close from where they live on the island--it would have been a sight to see!!

Tradwinds are blowing the ash/pumice & debree away from the island & it's actually predicted to wash up on the beaches of Fiji. -These volcanic eruptions are what cause new islands to form out in the Pacific Ring of Fire (and is why Tonga consists of 171 islands--48 of which are inhabited, but there are about 5 main ones); although I don't think a new island was born with this one.

Wow those are some impressive pictures! From the pictures it does not look like that part of the Island is very populated...which is a good thing for sure.
It is so good that nothing caused harm to Nase's family and that they were not near the location of the volcano.
Signs of the last days for sure.
