Austin's Day Out

On Thursday after I dropped Leka off at school, Austin was begging me to take him to the park--when I pulled back into the driveway he said "Nooooo!..Don't go home!!" --Well, I felt bad for the poor guy 'cause he'd been couped up inside w/all the yucky inversion out so I decided to take him to Kangaroo Zoo. We'd never been before, but it's only about 15 min's south of here & it only cost $5.00 for a 2-year-old (plus it's nice to go on a week day when it's not over-crowded... It turned out to be a fun little outing!

Austin got pretty confident & would climb right up & slide down the big inflated slides.. he figured out how to use the handles to climb straight up. (No surprise--he's figured out how to climb up everything in the house!..especially up to cupboards that have treats in them!)
It even looked like he was going to do the jumbo mother-of-all-slides ...but he would just climb halfway up the steps then slide down them (he figured that's how it works--Leka will have to show him how to go down when we come back with her.)

Here's Austin's favorite that he spent the most time at...that cone blows air that holds the ball suspended in the air for you to hit it (t-less t-ball :)

He was so cute playing, I had to make a video :)

Of course Leka was jealous of Austin's Outing & had already been asking to go to Kangaroo Zoo from the pictures we saw on Alisa's blog...So I thought it would be a good opportunity to do some positive reinforcement & let her earn a trip to Kangaroo Zoo.
We made her a chart that she can fill in by cleaning her room, eating all her dinner, going to bed good, etc. (I've been meaning to do something like this for a while--so far it's working well :)

All right a trip to Kangaroo Zoo! Is that not the best place to let the kids get rid of cooped up energy. Who ever started those places were genius and I thank them! During this lovely weather being completely sarcastic...there needs to be a place for a kid to play.
The one near you looks like it has some fun inflatable stuff. So does the Kangaroo Zoo you went to have all these huge signs posted on everything that no one over 150 pounds can go on them? That is what the rule is at the one in Lindon. Lame...stupid! I guess if I look at that in a positive way it means I don't have to get on and play with Charlie. However I think I would have liked to; it looked really fun. Darn rules!!!
Oh charts are the best to motivate kids. I have not yet done one with Charlie because well I don't think he would understand the concept. When I nannied we did charts all the time! At the time the only place we could use as a reward was Chucky Cheese. Kangaroo Zoo is soooo much better!
Love ya, thanks for sharing those cute pictures. I am excited to see the ones with both Leka and Austin. They are going to have a blast being together!

How fun for Austin! He looks like he was having the time of his life! I've never been there before, it sure looks like fun! Best of luck to Leka as she earns her prize (what a great idea!).

oh that looks so fun, we should go there sometime, and I like the chart idea, my stubborn 3 year old could use something like that.
