The Storm & the Warm

On Tuesday we got this...

...and then some. We got about a foot of snow...and it was the 3rd big storm in a week!

But then Wednesday warmed up quite a bit--making for snow of optimal moldibility...

So we went out & made a fort (using a bread pan for the blocks--old school style; we don't have the plastic blocks w/a handle made for building snow blocks.)

*Don't mind the Yellow Snow---Austin's potty training, and you know little boys.. [Just Kidding!!!] ...a guy came out & marked all the gas lines & used yellow spray paint :p

(Leka, Austin & their neighbor friend)

He also marked with those little flags & the kids thought they made great flags for their fort. -I'm sure they were supposed to stay in the ground, but Leka & Austin snatched them up as soon as they saw them.

Another use Leka found for the flags :)

Austin was having trouble with the wet grippy snow & kept losing boots & gloves.

...So I have to admit, I am now at that point whre I'm done with the snowy coldness & Spring Fever is at bay (I know that around here it can snow for a couple more months, but hopefully in about a month we should see some springy-ness :)

In the Meantime, I will definitely take the days in the mid 40's we've been getting--they've felt wonderful!

On Saturday we went out to enjoy the nice day!

The parks were still too snowy, so we went to McDonalds play place.

Then we went & walked around the inside & outside of the state capital (or "the castle" as Leka calls it :)

...And around Temple Square.

We finished off our outing by eating at The Hungry Bear (a pizza buffett) - I wasn't too impressed by the restaurant or food, however they had one really cool thing--a balloon bender was there, and he was probably the best one I'd ever seen!
Leka got an Ariel balloon (so cute--I love the purple balloon sea shells :) -And Austin got a Spider Man (no picture).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And just a couple fun random things:
Leka the Patriot--her preschool celebrated President's Day & made these hats..very fun! :)
If you haven't seen the Wallace & Gromit short films:
A--You should, they're so fun & clever (much better than the movie)
Be--You might not get this video because that's what they're immitating :) (altough I think my family should know what this is from.)
(Austin was having so much fun saying "Cheese Gromit!" that he started using it all the time: "Good night, Gromit!"..."I pooped, Gromit!" lol :)
Love the snow fort with the bread pan, good thinking. I am with you though on the spring fever part. That is definitely the coolest ballon I have ever seen, some people are so darn creative.
