Leka had a field trip to the Zoo today...it was fun to go with her & bring Austin :)
Here Leka is in her Zoo outfit :)

It was a landmark occasion because I packed her first lunch-box. Her Aunt had already given her this tinkerbell one as a gift--I figured she wouldn't be using it 'til first grade, but it came in handy yesterday!

I know you've all probably been to the Hogle Zoo multiple times (or at least a zoo)...but everytime I go I can't help but take pictures of the animals!
Some of the animals were more active in the winter as they say they are--especially the monkeys (which is funny because they're mostly indoors).

But the cats were not holding an audience that day--they all seemed to have the mid-day lazies.
They need to get the orangatan a friend!...Look at his sad little face! - Maybe there's another one but he (or she) was the only one we saw--and putting on quite a show, too!--Although I could only catch him sitting.

Don't you just love the giraffs?...although I hate those Do Not Feed the Animals signs when the animals walk right up to you like you've got a treat for them (one of these days I'm going to sneak them some carrots!)

In case you're wondering what your "Renew the Zoo" tax dollars are going toward:
The elephants kept breaking pieces of their wood wall off & chewing on them...what I found interesting--if you look closely at the middle of that elepant's trunk, you'll see he's holding the big bolt that fell off when he tore a chunk of wood off...he picked it up with the front of his trunk then held it there while he chewed on some more wood.
The bear felt like chewing on wood, too (any zoologists reading this I'd love to hear why they do this.. lol)

Austin by the zebras--he had so much fun at the zoo...before he would mainly just cruise around w/us in his stroller & not get too excited, but this time he just loved seeing all the animals!

"Now which of you is attracted to me?" haha, we have watched Madagascar about 10 times this week. You should come to our zoo, they have feeding times for the girafes, we haven't done it yet but one of these days we will!! Looks like you guys had fun.
I was at the zoo on Wed. Totally just missed you guys! Next time give me a call, we'll meet you there!
Ok I have not been to the Hoogle Zoo sense I was in kindergarten! I think I need to go....ok and I guess I will take Charlie too! When we lived in Cali we went to the Santa Barbara Zoo all the time and we all just loved it!
Leka looked so adorable in her little zoo outfit! You dress her like a doll, she is so cute!
I bet the kids had fun associating the animals with the movie Madagascar II! A whole lot of Melman, Gloria, Alex and Marty! Oh and can't forget king Julian! He is my most favorite oh and the penguins!
